What makes our packaging different?

Alterpacks uses agricultural waste and spent grains made of barley and malts that food manufacturers throw-out after their production cycle.  These grains are “spent” and would be fed to animals, turned to compost or tossed in a landfill.  Alterpacks upcycles these disposed food by-products into food containers that can return to the supply chain, providing a circular solution.

IS IT SAFE?

Eco-friendly Containers made with spent grains

Alterpacks containers have been certified by the United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and Singapore Food Agency (SFA) to be food contact safe, TUV Austria home compostable and plastics-free.

Spent grains and agricultural waste are natural raw materials and our containers are made from 100% organic waste.  They are able to withstand extreme temperatures, going from freezer to microwave, hold soups and oily foods
